Uploading & Sending  Photographs

Uploading Digital Images

Mailing Copies of Your Images

Directions for Uploading Photographs from your hard-drive:

1.  Select your images.  Send us as many as you'd like, noting your favorites. If you have a favorite photo that does not show the eye/hair color well, please send an additional photo to give us another point of reference for these important details.

Digital Image specifications: please send us large files in a high resolution if possible, at least 100 KB and 150 DPI and a  jpeg, tiff or btmp format.  This is most important form images that we will be using for your painting.  Pictures to establish your style/room decor/inspiration do not need to be as large.

2.  Click the link below for an automatic e=mail window, or simply open your e=mail account and create a message to the following address:

gwen@thebrownbrush.com

2.  In the subject line, type your name.  This will allow us to connect your photographs with your commission form.

3. Attach your photos to the e-mail.  Choose upload or attach files and select your photos.

Tips for Windows users:  If you're having trouble finding the photographs to attach, click on the down arrow on the right hand side of the "Look In" text bar.  Select My Documents/My Pictures.  Select the thumbnail view in the view menu (it looks like a blue and white waffle and is located at the top right of your browser box beside the little file icons).  Double click on the images that you'd like to attach.  If you're attaching several large photographs, please consider sending them in smaller batches to keep your server from crashing.

4. Send your e-mail(s).  We will confirm the receipt of your form and photographs, and get in touch with you within a week for your consultation.  Top of Page

If you're having trouble sending your photographs, or if your photographs are not in digital format, we recommend the following alternative.

Mailing Copies of Your Photographs:

1.  Gather up copies of your photographs.

2. Take your images to the photo developer that you use, and request that they be copied in high resolution onto a CD.  We highly recommend this step, especially for non-replaceable or very old photographs.  With all orders, we recommend two copies of every print/CD: one to keep and one to send.  This allows artist and client to have the same reference images during the consultation.

3. Package your photographs, CD, etc with a note including your name and address, and any reference notes that would help us identify the photos.  Place your photographs/CD inside a sealing plastic bag and tape the bag onto a sheet of cardboard.  You may also reinforce your package with several sheets of cardboard to prevent damage in the mail.  Mark your package in several places and on all sides with "Fragile: Do Not Bend!"

4.  Mail your package with the carrier of your choice.  We strongly recommend choosing a package with a tracking feature such as Delivery Confirmation.  The Brown Brush cannot be responsible for any items or photographs which are lost or damaged in transit.

Mail to:

The Brown Brush

Attn: Kyle and Gwen Brown

445 Hood Avenue

5.  We will contact you to let you know that your photographs have arrived, and set up a consultation within a week.  Your CD/original photographs will be returned to you with your finished painting.  Top of Page
