About the artist

Gwendelynn Webb Brown

Gwen’s art training began around the same age she began speaking. Her parents are both artists, so communicating visually has always been very natural for her. Gwen loves to draw, paint, build, sew, cook and generally create with anything that crosses her path. She received an Associates Degree in Fine Arts in 1994 from Clayton State University, and there discovered a love for portraiture. Under her professor’s guidance, Gwen developed skill in photographic realism painting and has worked in almost every medium available. Gwen has over 10 years of experience in custom framing.  Most of her experience is from a frame shop and gallery, where she was schooled in design, framing and conservation techniques, while surrounded by beautiful art and antique prints.

After her daughter was born, Gwen devoted herself to motherhood, creating for her family and home. She takes great pleasure in photographing her children and capturing those magical candid moments of childhood.  As her children became more independent, Gwen began to sense a deep longing to pick up her pencil and brushes again to turn these images of her children in to classic portraits...and the rest is history.  Her love for family and sentimental nature makes painting portraits for  others a pure joy that is evident in her work. She specializes in portraits of children, families, pets and homes.

In addition to all things artistic, Gwen’s interests include old houses, books, Fiesta ware and other pottery, fountain pens, vintage clothing, friendly cats, well-mannered inquisitive children, gardening, the Smoky Mountains, Earl Grey Tea...and most kinds of food!  She especially loves “my family, my dear husband and children and my Heavenly Father, who has seen me through every hour with abundant grace and love.”
